ICANN Announces Biggest Change to Internet in 40 Years

As reported by BBC.co.uk, ICANN is planning to introduce website address using non-Latin characters. If this is true, the landrush for domains with special characters will be huge. If you are a domainer, you need to set aside some additional budget in 2010. Grab some generic keyword domains. It's a little unclear how all of these new domains will be governed internationally. Obviously, there will be people purchasing brand names. But who will enforce international copyright and registration laws? I'm thinking even the lawyers will make some money on this!

And what about hosting companies and web design companies? How will they adjust to the new system and the increased demand for foreign language sites? Man, I've gotta get on that boat!
