IRENE AID: Are you in?

IRENE AID: Facebook has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to musicians, music people and artists. I think Facebook would do well to rally artists of all stripe to put on an IRENE AID concert to drum up funds to help Irene's victims, and maybe bring Facebook's creative community together for good. Are you, or anyone you know, an artist or musician who could help?

Ideas for Irene: Preventive Measures

A major hurricane is closing in on our shores. What can we do in advance?
1. Many people do not evacuate because they cannot afford either the transportation, the lodging, the food, or all of the above. Their assistance should be assured, by government, charities, businesses, churches, and so on. Get the info to those who need it.
2. Hotels, motels, B&Bs and such, outside the hurricane zone, could advertise reduced rates, extended rates, and such, to incentivize the slow to move.
3. We know that Bank of America has 5 billion new dollars. Put it to good, timely, use.
4. The internet, Facebook, Twitter and such, should be widely used to organize things.
5. It would be crazy to wait until after the fact to act.

Days of Future Passed

In the early Clinton years ('94-'95), one of the magazines asked readers to send in post cards with ideas for Clinton, which they would deliver. I typed out the following, in small type, pasted it to a postcard, and sent it in. This was back when "exuberance" was practically non-existent, in life or word. And winning the future was still waiting for Obama to mouth it. WTF!
